Chevening Scholarship Interviews

About

You will be invited to an interview in your home country, in the city or town where the British embassy or high commission has a representation, if you are shortlisted to interview for a Chevening Scholarship.

Even though you could naturally feel anxious before the interview, keep in mind that just getting to that point shows how strong of a prospect you are already. An interview is a fantastic chance for you to clearly explain why you should be awarded a scholarship and why you should become a member of the Chevening community.

During the global interview time, please make sure you are available for an interview.

Scheduling An Interview

Instructions on how to schedule your interview will be sent to you through email. First-come, first-served availability governs interview slots, so we advise scheduling as soon as feasible. Once you've arranged your interview, you'll get a confirmation email, and you can't change your slot after that.

Interviews with applicants will be conducted by the embassy or high commission of the territory or nation making the award. For those submitting applications for awards, interviews may be conducted online when necessary and practical. We are certain that we can give applicants a fair and easy interview procedure in this fashion because in 2021, COVID-19 enabled interviews to be successfully conducted online in several nations/territories. If you are selected for a Chevening interview, you will get more information, including confirmation of whether interviews can be conducted online in your country or territory.

Before your interview

You will be required to upload the following files to the online application system before your interview:

- Education documents (copies of your original certificates and/or transcripts in their              original language).
- 2 letters of recommendation.
- A short bio that tells more about you

Getting prepared for your interview

For your interview, you will require the following paperwork:

  • National ID or Passport.
In some nations or areas, more paperwork might be required. This information will be provided to you in the email inviting you to the interview.

The Interview with Chevening

The interview will be an English-language competency-based panel examination.

Members of the British embassy or high commission will be on the interview panel, and they will evaluate your responses using the overall Chevening criteria.

A number of questions relating to some of the data you supplied in the application form will be posed to you. The panel's questions will give you the chance to describe your goals for your personal and professional life as well as how Chevening can help you get there. You will be requested to give an update on your application status and to discuss your course preferences.

What should you anticipate following your interview?

After the global interview period, which runs from early to mid-June, all applicants will be notified of the results of their interview. As information on the status of your application cannot be given sooner, please refrain from contacting the British embassy or high commission in your area.

You should apply for all three of your university courses as soon as you can, rather than waiting until the conclusion of your interview. Any unconditional offers should be sent as soon as feasible through the online application system.
